The World Student Christian Federation

WSCF Shall unite Christian movements, associations of students and members of the academic community throughout the world, and shall promote cooperation among them

Our History

WSCF-ME is an ecumenical platform that engulfs members of seven countries: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, and Syria. It was born in 1962 following the decision to decentralize WSCF (established in 1895) into six regional bodies. In 1968, WSCF-ME’s regional office was opened in Beirut, Lebanon, where it continues to be based.

Guidelines

  • Building Ecumenism at the Grassroots Level

The carrying out of a distinguished youth vision, in the true ecumenical spirit, that does not exclude any Christian youth movement or Church youth group, from the work of the federation. We will not allow the theological peculiarities of different people to hinder their spirit of respect and mutual commitment in spreading Christian love and partnership. Instead, we try to enhance openness to others, hear different opinions, promote a culture of dialogue and self-evaluation, all while searching together for truth.

  • Leadership Development Among Youth

Helping youth movements and churches create a new generation of responsible leaders, who are conscious of the current realities of the Church and society. This leadership training is seen as one of the most important factors for the future of Christianity in the Middle East.

  • Defining the Relationship Between Church and Society

This implies a thorough analysis and evaluation of the testimony of the Church in the ever-changing Arab society. Particular attention is given to the continuing Christian witness in the middle of a society influenced by Islamic and Judaic heritage.
